Create a QR Code

How to create QR codes in GeoQR with quick create or the guided setup flow.

GeoQR supports two creation paths:

  • Quick create for a live QR with one default destination, a domain, and an optional design template.
  • Guided create for a draft that you can build step by step before publishing.

Before You Start

It helps to have these ready:

  • the final destination URL
  • any country-specific destination URLs
  • the domain you want to use
  • any logos or images you want in the design
  • any saved design template you want to reuse

If this is your first QR code, you do not need to optimize everything at once. You can start with the default domain, one destination URL, and a simple design, then improve it later.

Quick Create

Use Quick create when you already know the default destination and want a published QR code without stepping through the full draft flow.

Quick create asks for:

  • default URL
  • domain
  • template, or the default look
  • optional name

When the QR is created, GeoQR opens the edit screen for that QR code. From there, you can review the live setup, adjust the design, add country-specific destination rules, or save changes.

Use the guided flow instead when you want to prepare a draft before the QR becomes live.

Guided Create Flow

When you create a QR code, GeoQR guides you through four steps:

  1. Name
  2. Domain
  3. Destinations
  4. Design

Step 1: Name

The name is for your internal organization only. It helps your team identify the QR code later.

Step 2: Domain

Choose the domain that should serve the QR code.

  • If you have custom domains set up, you can choose one of them.
  • If not, use the default available option until you add a branded domain.

Step 3: Destinations

Add the default destination URL the QR code should open.

You can also add country-specific destination rules. This is useful when different visitors should be sent to different links based on where they scan.

Step 4: Design

Customize the visual appearance of the QR code, including optional media and frame styling.

You can also open Templates to apply a saved organization design or save the current appearance as a reusable template.

Drafts

GeoQR saves your work as a draft while you build it. This lets you leave the editor and return later without publishing the QR code too early.

For the smoothest first launch:

  1. use one default destination
  2. skip country-specific rules unless you already know you need them
  3. use a simple high-contrast design
  4. add branded domains or media only if they are already ready

Simple Defaults That Work Well

If you are unsure about a choice, these defaults are usually safe:

  • one clear default destination
  • no country-specific rules at first
  • the default serving domain until your branded one is ready
  • a clean design with strong contrast
  • a saved design template when your organization already has an approved look
  • a real-device scan test before sharing

Before You Publish

Make sure you have:

  • a clear internal name
  • the right serving domain
  • a working default destination
  • any optional country rules you need
  • a final design you are happy with

What To Do Next

When the draft looks right:

  1. Open Publish and share.
  2. Test the QR yourself.
  3. Share it only after you confirm the live result.
